Established in 1896, it remains one of the oldest continuously operating independent grocery stores in the country.

The building underwent major restoration in 2000 providing a fascinating blend of old and new. The result is a truly unique shopping experience. Jeanne and Mike Hyde purchased the business in 2001 and are committed to carrying on the tradition of offering quality service and products as well as our legendary custom made sandwiches. In their first seven years of ownership, they have taken the store in a new direction by offering a significantly expanded selection of specialty foods, bakery, and wine.
